BAPTISM: The Beginning of a Relationship

BAPTISM: The Beginning of a Relationship

Baptism

The Sacrament of Baptism marks the beginning of a deep and meaningful life-long relationship with Jesus Christ. It is considered to be the rite of initiation into the Christian faith. Baptism is available to persons of any age. Many people bring their children to the font, symbolizing a commitment to nurturing them in the Christian faith, and in the life of the Christian Community. Others come to Baptism at an older age, and are choosing to make that commitment for themselves. No matter the age, Baptism is considered to be a significant commitment to the Christian faith as well as a commitment to a life lived in Christian community. The celebration of Baptism is marked with the entire parish community in the context of regular Sunday worship. As such, we would expect that you would be a regular part of our worshipping community.

Next Steps:

1.    Our parish priest would welcome a conversation about Baptism.

2.    Joining our wider community for weekly worship will give you a clearer sense of whether you would like to be a part of our church family, be strengthened and encouraged in your faith, and be better equipped to teach your child about following Jesus. Our experience and expectation is that worshipping with us regularly helps form a solid basis for the promises you will make at Baptism.

3.    Having established a pattern of regular worship within our parish community, please meet with our parish priest to schedule Baptism Preparation and schedule your Baptism as a part of Sunday morning worship.
